Summary Description: How does a church with a predominantly white membership and located in an
area with a similar population that is experiencing demographic change help its leadership learn about
diversity? Come join us as we define diversity; engage university partners; and utilize global healthcare
and business culture to help in that task. Travel with us to the City of Glum to learn about our biases and
assumptions while we examine the ‘Cost of Privilege’.


Learning Objectives: Following this session, participants will be able to …
1) articulate why how we define the term is a key component in learning about diversity;
2) understand the importance of changing a church’s approach to diversity and cultural awareness; and
3) recognize the impact of interactive exercises to assist in enhancing member and leadership
understanding.
